Combine Harvesters: axial vs. hybrid technology
Dear readers, on our blog today we’re taking a closer look at some different harvester types on the market. What’s the difference between a harvester with an axial or a hybrid threshing unit? How to make the right choice? Let’s go and take a look into the main features of these pieces of equipment!
Axial or hybrid threshing: what are their main features?
A whole year of hard work and effort is at stake. So, performance is clearly a must for any harvester. Thinking of the accuracy obtained in traditional tilling operations by hand, perfection through a mechanical device seems to be an impossible task. Optimizing and fine-tuning the harvester’s operations is the best way to make the most of your farming machinery.
Here are the profiles of two different types of harvesters: based on either axial or hybrid technology. Let’s discover them right now!
- Axial harvesters. Designed for large areas such as you can find in Northern America, this farming equipment has been engineered based on the functional principle of maize ginners. They have become well established on the European market thanks to their good performance in obtaining quality grains from soybean and maize crops. The advantages of these pieces of equipment compared to traditional harvesters are quite evident: whilst the latter threshes crops over a path of about 0.8 and 1 m, axial harvesters can develop their job over an at least four times longer path. Not only does this stand for major production capacity, but it also means a more delicate and respectful grains processing. The only weak point might be the major power required by this type of machinery compared to European standards.
- Hybrid harvesters. Their functioning basically works like the traditional ones: thresher, counter-thresher and rotors in the straw walkers for separation. What makes the difference is the higher versatility of operating speed. Hence, hybrid harvesters enable to harvest the yield without losses and in less time, even under harsh conditions when green trunks or wet surfaces are present.
However, if you aim at having perfectly ed stems, hybrid harvesters can’t offer a 100% precision, since the product is coiled around the rotor. Anyway, this process doesn’t compromise your yield’s integrity and the options of final usage.
The latest products on the market also offer advantages in terms of reduced energy consumption, excellent maneuverability and a more accurate cleaning thanks to special fans.
BKT recommends… Agrimax Teris
It’s always a good thing being demanding with your equipment and expecting best performance from your tires.
This is why BKT recommends Agrimax Teris specially designed for high-power combine harvesters. Excellent flotation properties and high load capacity are its essential features providing best performance in all harvesting and threshing operations. In addition, Agrimax Teris reduces soil compaction even if carrying heavy loads. Moreover, its sidewall protection increases resistance - thus extending the product life-cycle – also in harsh conditions and if there are stubbles in the fields.
Whether your combine harvester is axial or hybrid, Agrimax Teris is the right choice, isn’t it? Discover all available sizes on our website!
