BKT, leading company in the production of Off-Highway tires and Title Sponsor of the championship, has celebrated since 2022 the coach who has stood out more than any other in the BKT United Rugby Championship. A key figure, capable of leading, coordinating and enhancing teamwork to achieve the best possible result.

For the recently concluded season, the prestigious BKT Coach of the Season award has been presented to Ivan van Rooyen, together with the exclusive commemorative ring signed by BKT.

The South African coach distinguished himself with a season of great growth at the helm of the Fidelity SecureDrive Lions, leading the team to a clear improvement in terms of performances and results. The victory of the South African Shield, the seventh-place finish in the standings and the historic qualification for the play-offs – the first in the club’s history in the competition – testify to the value of the work carried out.

Progress is also evident in the numbers: the Lions recorded the second-best attack in the championship with 532 points scored and the third-highest number of tries (73), confirming themselves as one of the most exciting and effective teams in the tournament.
